A slew of 603 sons and daughters learning at three schools in Mullaittivu area were the recipients of exercise books, school accessories and educational instruments to the value of Rs 1.2 m, following initiatives taken by the Civil Affairs Coordinator of the 643 Infantry Brigade HQ.
The stock of those incentives was sponsored by Mrs Thilini Athukorala of Maharagama ‘Lakdana’ Backbench Media Network and her local and overseas contacts at the request of the 643 Infantry Brigade HQ.
Major General H.D.W.K.N Eriyagama RWP RSP, General Officer Commanding, 64 Infantry Division, Colonel C.D Wickramanayake WV RSP, Commander, 643 Infantry Brigade and Lieutenant Colonel H.H.M.T.J.B Herath, Commanding Officer, 8 Sri Lanka Artillery were behind arrangements made in connection with the distribution ceremony.
Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu graced the distribution ceremony as the Chief Guest at Muthuiyankaddukulam Government Tamil Mixed School on the left bank.
Accordingly, all 603 students of low-income group families at Muthuiyankaddukulam Government Tamil Mixed School (left bank), Muththu Vinayagapuram Primary School, Muthuiyankaddukulam Government Tamil Mixed School (south bank) received those incentives under the Army - initiated project.
Mrs Thilini Athukorala, main donor, Mr Pradeep Anandan, Deputy Director of Education of Thunukkai and Principals of three schools with their tutorial staff were present during the distribution ceremony.
