Sons & Daughters of Army Families Serving 64 Division Awarded Scholarships

Mr Prasad Lokubandara and Old Boys Association of Colombo Royal College, together with members of the Alumni Association at University of Sri Jayawardanapura keen in supporting students gave away 59 scholarships, each worth Rs 30,000/= to students in Army families, working in the 64 Division in Oddusuddan on Wednesday (3).

The programme, titled ‘Ranaviru Abhinandana Puja – Viru Sahana Yathra’ was organized by 64 Division on the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu, Major General Upali Rajapaksha. The necessary guidance for the project was given by the General Officer Commanding, 64 Division, Major General Manjula Karunarathne.

The gesture of sponsorship was coordinated by Major General Ajith Pallawala, Chief of Staff at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) at BMICH.

Major General Ajith Pallawala at the invitation of the GOC, 64 Division graced as the Chief Guest. Brigadier Don Sooriyabandara, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division, Brigadier Keerthi Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 68 Division, Commanding Officers under command to the 64 Division and officers were present at the occasion.
