Some Foreign Nations Conspire to Give LTTE a Lifeline

AT a time when the LTTE is breathing its last, some foreign countries are engaged in a conspiracy to give a lifeline to this terrorist movement. These countries support the Government as well as the LTTE simultaneously using their duplicitous character.

Steps must be taken to rid this country of terrorism without falling prey to these duplicitous machinations, National Patriotic Movement President Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera told at a press conference at the head office recently.

When there was a proposal at the UN Security Council for Sri Lanka to go for a ceasefire, China opposed it in favour of Sri Lanka. Certain countries wanted to protect Prabhakaran under the guise of that proposal, Dr. Amarasekera said.

Meanwhile, there was another smear campaign against Sri Lanka by another UN Human Rights Commission official. Her reports against Sri Lanka were based on materials obtained from Tamil Net website which supports the LTTE.

Only those foreigners and South Indians stage protests for the Tigers. Today the Government is confidently and strongly facing all these challenges, he said.

"We won't allow the Government to go for any solution, which leads to achieving Eelam. The Tigers' motive is very clearly seen when one goes by the large number of weapons unearthed by the forces in cleared areas.

If their activities continued like this for another year or if the President didn't come to power, the country would have been in a great mess by now", Dr. Amarasekera said.
