Soldiers Provide Water &;amp; Medicine to Katharagama Bound North &;amp; East Pilgrims

HINDU devotees of North and East annually walk to Katharagama to pay homage to God Skanda. This year too they started this hard journey through Kumana Wild life sanctuary last Friday (2). 16th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard under the guidance of Officer Commanding Troops (Ampara) organized water and medicine required for the pilgrims.

The essential medical supplies were handed over to Lahugala Medical Officer Dr. Hemamalee. Six wells were cleaned and water tanks were placed by the side of the path by the soldiers for drinking water for the devotees.

These devotees walk about 150 kilometers to reach Katharagama on this pilgrimage annually.
