Soldiers of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) recently organized a health camp for the villagers in Oddusudan, Muthiyankattu Kulam, Kanagarathnapuram and Mannakandal GS divisions at the Government Tamil Mixed School on the left bank of Muthiyankattu Kulam.
Dr. Janaka Ramanayaka, Head of Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya along with lecturers in the department of Family Medicine Dr. Leela Rani, Dr. Aruni, Dr. Dinusha and Dr. Deepama conducted the camp. More than 450 people under the same arrangement were given away gift parcels containing agricultural needs and other essentials. Nearly 30 doctors attended the medical camp.
Meanwhile, “Helpage Sri Lanka” extended its support by sending a special medical team to look into the health problems of the elderly. The Medical Officer of Health Mullaitivu/Oddusudan Dr. Kalichelvan organized an immunization campaign for those people in the same area as part of this community service.
Gift parcels contained mammoties, plastic buckets, plastic jugs, milk powder, laundry soap, tooth paste and tooth brushes, tea bags, bathing towels, bed sheets and cloths. On the same occasion school uniforms and school items were also donated to hundred and ninety four school children. Pre school children at Muthiyankattu Kulam and Kanagarathnapuram were provided with Kids’ Cloths, Milk Powder, Toys and Story Books.
Similarly, donation of some sport items was also made to Muthiyankattu Kulam Government Tamil Mixed School and Kachchila Madu Government Tamil Mixed school during this project.
The soldiers further took the initiative to provide a cup of tea with some snacks to nearly 1600 people who attended this medical camp.
