So Far 66,705 Civilians Have Entered Cleared Areas

VANNI: CIVILIANS in the ‘No Fire Zone’ in PUTUMATTALAN, east of PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU who are unable to bear the atrocities of the LTTE terrorists against them are continuing to flee the grip of LTTE. Another such group of three hundred and one civilians who fled  ‘No Fire Zone’ reached Army controlled areas in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU Friday (10) afternoon seeking protection from Army troops.

With the latest arrivals, the total number of civilians reached the government controlled areas so far after 10th March 2008, has risen to sixty six thousand seven hundred and five (66,705). Security Forces with assistance of civil administrative authorities in the area have taken all steps to full fill the basic requirements of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
