Smashing Bunkers They Forge Ahead

WELIOYA: TROOPS now on their way northward along the WELIOYA front directed heavy attacks on three Tiger bunkers in the north of KIRIIBBANWEWA Wednesday (9).

One bunker was completely smashed killing nine terrorists and injuring at least ten terrorists. Troops during the search into the bunker found three hand grenades, one hundred and twenty-seven anti personnel mines and five IEDs.

Meanwhile, one more round of fresh confrontation that ensued in the areas north of KIRIIBBANWEWA and north of JANAKAPURA late Wednesday (9) evening killed eight terrorists and injured six more. One soldier laid his life and two more were injured in the incidents.

At the same time, one soldier was injured due to explosion of a terrorist anti personnel mine Wednesday (9) around 8.40 a.m. in the north of KIRIIBBANWEWA.

Meanwhile, troops stormed and captured one more Tiger bunker north of KIRIIBBANWEWA Wednesday (9) around 12.20 p.m.. Troops confirmed at least three terrorists were injured due to troops' fire.

Meanwhile, alert troops in TRINCOMALEE arrested a woman carrying a magazine of a mini-ushi type gun Wednesday (9) around 4.00 p.m..
