SLSR War Heroes Remembered at RHQ

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Headquarters commemorated its fallen War Heroes with a series of events during 24-25 August at Ambepussa together with a large gathering of family members of fallen SLSR War Heroes.

The commemorative events began with an overnight ‘Pirith’ chanting at the Regimental Centre on Saturday (24).

Major General Kumudu Perera, Deputy Chief of Staff and Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR graced the ceremonies as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Brigadier Ajith Pallawela, Centre Commandant and Lieutenant Colonel Subhash Siriwardana, Deputy Centre Commandant.

Organized for the 27th consecutive year, the event paid floral tributes to the fallen SLSR War Heroes memorial and transferred merits to 144 Officers and 3720 Other Rankers who made the supreme sacrifice in the battlefield whilst defending the country's territorial integrity in the past three-decades before 2009.

Subsequently, religious services representing Catholic, Hindu and Islamic faiths got underway at separate sacred places in Warakapola. The ceremony terminated with an overnight ‘Pirith’ chanting followed by an alms-giving to members of the Maha Sangha on Sunday (25) morning. 24 Buddhist monks attended the alms-giving.
