The Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) at Ambespussa commemorated the memory of their fallen War Heroes during 21 - 22 October 2023, giving pride of place to the family members.
Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardena RWP RSP ndu, Quarter Master General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment graced the commemorative ceremony as the Chief Guest, together with Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
This 31st consecutive commemorative event saw laying of floral wreaths and transfer of merits on them where family members and Senior Officers saluted the memory of 144 Officers and 3720 Other Ranks of the SLSR who laid their lives for defence of the country.
Religious observances representing Buddhist, Catholic, Hindu and Islamic faiths got underway at separate places of worship in and around Warakapola before the main ceremony at the Regimental Centre got underway.
Prior to the main ceremony, a ‘Pirith’ chanting ceremony plus an alms-giving to the monks were held.
