SLSR Regiment Wins Inter Regiment Gymnastic Championship

Final events and the prize-awarding ceremony of the Inter Regiment Gymnastic Tournament - 2017 took place on Thursday (12) at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo, amid a large gathering of spectators.

Major General Wajira Palihakkara, Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Sri Lanka Army at the invitation of Army Gymnastic Committee attended the event as the day’s Chief Guest.

The tournament with the participation of many gymnasts of 11 Regiments of the Army continued for two days (October 11-12) before the finals got underway this evening (12).

Multi-coloured Army dance displays, demonstrations and other entertaining features, added variety and pleasure to the final closing ceremony as soldiers in their hundreds showed up at the final show.

The Chief Guest for the closing ceremony distributed certificates and trophies among winners as the event was drawing to a close.

The first place in the tournament was won by SLSR while the second place went to SLE.

Major General Rohana Bandara, Director General Sports, Brigadier Anura Sudasingha, Director Sports, Several Senior Officers, Officers, members of the Army Sports Board, sports fans and family members of the contestants witnessed the finals.
