SLSR Carries Away Inter Regiment Tennis Championship

The Army’s Inter Regiment Tennis Tournament, held for 3 days, came to a close at the Tennis Court of Sri Lanka Tennis Association on Tuesday (20) during a simple ceremony.

Eight regiments including Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC), Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), Gemunu Watch (GW), Gajaba Regiment (GR), Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC) competed under five categories.

Inter regiment team matches, open single matches, open double matches, over 45 year veterans’ single matches and over 45 year veterans’ double matches were competed by more than sixty players of those regiments.

In the Inter Regiment Team matches, SLSR carried away the Championship and GW and 2 VIR emerged as 1st and 2nd runners up respectively. Deputy Chief of Staff Major General A.L.R. Wijetunge attended the award ceremony as the Chief Guest.

2nd Place    - Major General Rajaguru

Over 45 year veterans’ double matches
1st Place    - Major General Rajaguru & Colonel FFR Fernando
2nd Place    - Brigadier Hapudira & Lieutenant Colonel ML Premasiri - SLSC
