The retiring Brigadier H.M.L.K Amunugama was given a formal farewell by Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops at the SLSR Regimental Headquarters on 14 June 2023 during a fitting ceremony upon completion of nearly 34 years of dedicated and valuable service.
Accordingly, the formalities, related to the farewell were observed at the SLSR Regimental Headquarters, inclusive of a Guard Turnout accorded by SLSR troops soon after the outgoing Brigadier arrived at the entrance in keeping with military traditions. After a while, a ceremonial parade saluted him before he made a floral tribute to the SLSR War Heroes monument in the Regimental Headquarters. He also paid a tribute to the memory of fallen War Heroes.
Afterwards, Brigadier H.M.L.K Amunugama joined a tea with all ranks at the main auditorium before he posed for a group photograph. Also Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardena RWP RSP ndu, Quarter Master General and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment presented a memento to the outgoing Senior Officer as a symbolic appreciation of his dedicated and committed service.
Mrs Omila Jayawardena, Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment awarded a special memento to Mrs Kumudu Herath, the spouse of the retiring Senior Officer. Brigadier H.M.L.K Amunugama spoke to all Officers those who had gathered and expressed his gratitude for the assistance and support given to him by all in carrying out his duties as a member of the Lions' family.
Senior Officers, inclusive of Council members, Staff Officers, Officers of the SLSR and their spouses took part in the day’s proceedings. The scheduled programme for the day culminated after a lunch treat, hosted for all ranks.
