SLSR Bids Farewell to Retiring Major General Kumarapperuma

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) HQ at Ambepussa bade farewell to one of its outgoing senior officers, Major General Wasantha Kumarapperuma on Friday (24) who is retiring upon serving more than 34 years in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army.

In honour of the outgoing Major General, a customary ceremony was held at the SLSR Regimental Centre, Ambepussa. A Guard Turnout and a ceremonial parade, presented to Major General Wasantha Kumarapperuma by SLSR troops added colour to the event.

The event also saluted the memory of fallen SLSR war heroes at the Regimental Monument and a tea arrangement at the Warrent Officers’ and Sergeants' Mess in keeping with Regimental traditions brought the first segment of the day's proceedings to end.

A special lunch treat hosted to the outgoing Senior Officer by all Officers of the Sinha Regiment at the Officers' Mess afterwards provided the platform for Major General Kumarapperuma to speak out his mind and thank everyone for the generous assistance, offered to him in many ways during his military career. Senior Officers, Officers and spouses of those Officers participated in the event.

Senior officers of the Regiment, including Major General Manoj Mudannayake, Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Laksiri Waduge , Commander Security Forces- Central, Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri, Commander Security Forces Wanni, Major General Jayantha Seneviratne, Commander Security Forces Mullaittivu, Major General Deepthi Jayathilake, General Officer Commanding 12 Division, SLSR Centre commandant, SLSR Deputy Centre commandant and a host of senior officers were among those who took part in the farewell arrangement. trace affiliate link | UOMO, SCARPE
