The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) presented military honours and warm greetings to the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant, Major General Prabhath Dematanpitiya when he arrived at the SLSC Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda on Wednesday (26) to take over duties as the 10th Colonel Commandant of the SLSC.
Major General Prabhath Dematanpitiya, currently serving as the Commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) at Sapugaskanda on arrival was greeted to a Guard Turnout after he was received by the SLSC Centre Commandant.
Afterwards, Major General Prabhath Dematanpitiya paid tribute to War Heroes’ monument in the RHQ premises. Lighting of the traditional oil lamp, religious observances and other formalities after a while made him to officially accept the office by signing a formal document. Members of the Maha Sangha invoked blessings and blessed his new office.
A Guard of Honour that followed on the same occasion saluted him in accordance with military traditions before he addressed the Officers as well as the troops as a customary practice. Subsequent refreshments with all ranks and a courtesy lunch at the Officers’ Mess brought the day’s event to end.
