SLSC Builds New House for a Senior Non- Commissioned Officer

The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) Regiment as per directions of the Commander of the Army took the initiative in building a new house for a deserving Staff Sergeant of the 1 SLSC at a cost of Rs. 1.5 m in Atabage, Gampola.

The new house constructed under the VIII phase of the housing project for Army personnel was closely coordinated and implemented as per guidelines given by the Chief Signal Officer and Colonel Commandant of the SLSC, Major General K.A.W.S Rathnayake ndu.

The house, constructed by troops of the 1 SLSC with their technical and engineering skills under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, 1 SLSC, Major G.T.K de Silva was warmed on Friday (10) during a simple ceremony in the presence of a gathering of Senior Officers, family members and invitees.

Following religious observances, the keys were symbolically presented to the beneficiary by the Chief Guest of the event Major General K.A.W.S Rathnayake ndu.

SLSC Regimental Centre Commandant, Brigadier A.K.D Adikari USP, Commander, Signal Brigade, Brigadier S.J.K.D Jayawardena USP psc, Commandant School of Signals Colonel M.A.K Jayawardena psc, Commanding Officer of 1 Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major G.T.K de Silva, Senior Officers, Officers, Regimental Sergeant Major and Other Ranks were associated with the inaugural ceremony, replete with traditional milk-pot boiling rituals, ribbon-cutting and chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha.

The Army on the directions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu provides the major share of the expenditure. The SLSC Regimental Centre and the Directorate of Welfare also contribute to the house construction project.
