The Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) Regiment’s 2nd quarter officers’ training day, held on Thursday (20) at Kurunegala SLNG HQ had Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment SLNG as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the Regimental HQ.
A group of 150 SLNG officers participated in the training day’s programme and it included physical training, drill practices, lectures and recreation sessions, followed by the customary ‘Diners Club’ arrangement in the evening.
Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army patiently watched the proceedings and interacted with participating Officers during the Diners Club session, held at the Regimental Officers’ Mess.
Brigadier H.A Keerthinatha RSP KSP psc, Center Commandant SLNG warmly welcomed Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage on his arrival at the camp premises.
Major General Udaya Perera (Rtd) RWP RSP VSV USP USAWC psc attended the Diners Club as the guest speaker and delivered a comprehensive lecture on ‘What Makes a Leader’, in which he enlightened the attendees on the leadership traits.
At the end of the session, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment, SLNG delivered closing remakes and thanked Major General Udaya Perera (Rtd) RWP RSP VSV USP USAWC psc for his contribution to the session and presented a special gift to the speaker in appreciation.
Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Director General General Staff, Major General J.A.R.S.K Jayasekara USP psc, Director General Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Senior Officers and Officers participated in the event.
