Major General Rasika Fernando, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) after assumption of office made his first formal visit to the 3 Sri Lanka National Guard at Kawanthissapura, Kataragama on Friday (31).
On his arrival, their Colonel of the Regiment was accorded a Guard Turn Out as military honour before he was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer, 3 SLNG, Major H.M.L.B Samarakoon.
Afterwards, the visiting Colonel of the Regiment was invited to plant a mango sapling. As the climax of his visit, he was invited to warm the newly-constructed accommodation building for Other Ranks in the camp. Unveiling a plaque and ribbon-cutting, the visiting Deputy Chief of Staff inaugurated the building.
Subsequently, Colonel of the Regiment addressed the troops of the Battalion and appealed them to work with dedication for the betterment of the organization. Similarly, the Commanding Officer made a presentation on the role and tasks of the Battalion as well as other administrative aspects.
