SLMA’s Intake-1 Graduates Recall Memories of 50 Years

The Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) at Diyatalawa on a conceptual notion of the Commander of the Army marked its 50th Anniversary on Wednesday (25) with a special get-together of past graduates of the Intake-1 of the academy.

Six past graduates out of fourteen officers of the Intake-1 together with their spouses participated in this anniversary event with elaborate arrangements.

The first segment of the day’s agenda began after placing floral wreaths at the SLMA monument. A little later the attendees listened to a detailed briefing on the progress of the SLMA in the past 50 years before a multimedia presentation of trainee Officer Cadets was made at the Colonel Fazly Memorial Auditorium.

At the entrance to the auditorium SLMA Commandant, Brigadier Priyantha Senaratne together with his spouse welcomed the day’s invitees and presented them with special mementos adding more importance to the day’s itinerary.

One of the retired senior officers in this Intake in a moving speech of appreciation thanked the Commandant for organizing a memorable event of this nature.

Afterwards, recalling yesteryear memories the invitees had a look at Cadets’ Mess, Library, Gymnasium, Stable, Museum and the Sergeants’ Mess. The Academy hosted all of them to a gala dinner night at the Cadets’ Mess prior to their departure on Thursday (26) morning.
