46 Officer Cadets from Intake- 88 who are undergoing military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) made familiarization visits to Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi and Jaffna during 3-4 September.
In Kilinochchi, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, warmly welcomed them to the Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi, and had an interaction session with those Officer Cadets at the Officers' Mess, together with several Staff Officers of the SFHQ KLN.
Next day, General Staff Officer I, Operations and Training of the Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi presented a comprehensive briefing on the history and significance of Kilinochchi, role and tasks, and responsibilities of the SFHQ Kilinochchi, and the efforts taken by the military to develop the livelihoods of the people to enhance the government's nation building mechanism in Kilinochchi in the post-conflict scenario. Prior to their departure, the Officer Cadets presented a memento to the Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, symbolizing their courtesy.
On their way to Jaffna, they paid their respect to the Corporal Gamini Kularatne (Hasalaka Gamini) monument at Elephant Pass where a comprehensive briefing was delivered by the Commanding Officer 9 SLSR.
Meanwhile, the same group visited the SFHQ-Jaffna during 4-5 September as a part of their training curriculum. On behalf of the Commander, SF -Jaffna, senior officers welcomed them and briefed them on the role and tasks of the SFHQ-J and its community projects, etc. they later on visited the Jaffna Fort, library, Araly point monument, Nallur temple and other places of interest.
