SLMA Officer Cadets Interact with Commander before Graduation

A representative group of Officer Cadets of the Intake 92, 92 (B) and SC 20, including one foreign Officer Cadet from Senegal under training at Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu on Monday (20) at the Army Headquarters.

Officer Cadets, as a part of the research work of their final presentation in the SLMA before commissioning, interviewed the Commander of the Army on the theme ‘Enhancing United Nations Peacekeeping Capabilities of the Sri Lanka Army’ in order to receive scholarly opinion of the Army Chief towards the subject.

During the interview, the Commander of the Army commented on the Sri Lankan Army preparation for acquiring more United Nation peacekeeping opportunities and Women’s participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Those Officer Cadets who are expected to get their commissions shortly in the forthcoming passing-out parade at Diyatalawa paid their gratitude to the Army Chief for facilitation of their interactions at the Army Headquarters despite Army Chief’s busy schedule.

At the end of the cordial interactions, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage presented special mementos to Officer Cadets while wishing them good luck for an enlightening research work and a final presentation before graduation.

Major General M.T.I Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Commandant of SLMA, Colonel L.P Athukorala RSP USP psc, Chief Instructor of SLMA, Major N.S.P De Silva WWV RSP USP psc, Senior Instructor of SLMA and a Course Officer were associated with the meet at the Commander’s Secretariat.
