SLMA Officer Cadets Interact with Commander before Graduation

A representative group of Officer Cadets of the Intake 91, 91 (B), SC 19, 61 (Volunteer), and Lady Intake 19, 18 (Volunteer), including three foreign Cadet Officers (Maldives and Zambia) under training at Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage on Thursday (10) at the Army Headquarters.

Officer Cadets, as a part of the research work of final presentation in the SLMA before the commissioning, interviewed the Commander of the Army on the theme ‘Russia - Ukraine Conflict and its Effects on South Asia’ in order to obtain scholarly opinions of the Army Chief.

During the interview, Commander of the Army commented about Russia - Ukraine conflict and its impact on our national interests, need for strengthening of the defence diplomacy in South Asian countries, novel military strategies and tactics used, Military lessons to be learnt, etc.

Those Officer Cadets who are expected to receive their commissions shortly in the customary passing-out parade at Diyatalawa paid their gratitude to the Army Chief for facilitation of their meet at the Army Headquarters despite Army Chief's busy schedule.

At the end of the interaction, Commander of the Army presented special mementos to Officer Cadets while wishing them good luck for an enlightening research work and a final presentation.

Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B. Niyangoda RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Commandant SLMA, Colonel B.N.S.B. Rangama RSP USP psc, Chief Instructor of SLMA, Major N.S.P. De Silva WWV RSP USP psc, Senior Instructor, SLMA and few Course Officers were associated with the meet at the Commander’s Secretariat.
