SLLI’s House Construction for Own Soldiers Continues with Same Spirits

The continuation of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment's (SLLI) housing project for own Army personnel and their families, constructed one more house for a deserving SLLI soldier and formally warmed it during a ceremony at Rikillagaskada on Monday (4).

Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Colonel of the SLLI Regiment and Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna graced the inaugural occasion as the Chief Guest.

The project, a conceptual notion made by the former Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment entrusted the responsibility of constructing a house for a homeless soldier at each unit level under three phases.

The newly-appointed Colonel of the Regiment of SLLI Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc also sustains the same project with equal enthusiasm for the betterment of SLLI soldiers.

The new house, built at Alawaththegama, Rikillagaskada was accordingly received by a deserving Non-Commissioned Officer of the 17 (v) SLLI Regiment who has been serving the Army for more than 20 years. He is married and has two kids but was without a proper a house for the family.

17 (v) SLLI troops on the directions of the Commanding Officer, Major H.J.M Premathilaka RSP provided their manpower, engineering and technical skills for the construction of the new house.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the house-warming ceremony.
