SLLI’s House Construction for Own Soldiers Continues

The Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI) constructed one more house for a deserving SLLI soldier and formally warmed it during a ceremony at Kalutara on Friday (26).

The project as a suggestion made by Major General C.D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu, Chief of Staff and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light infantry Regiment entrusted the responsibility of constructing a house for a homeless soldier at each unit level under three phases.

The new house, built at Kalutara, Bandaragama was accordingly received by a deserving Non-Commissioned Officer of the 8 SLLI Regiment who has been serving the Army for more than 17 years. He is married and blessed with two kids.

Troops of the 8 SLLI on the directions of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel I.A.L Ileperuma RWP RSP USP provided their manpower, engineering and technical skills for construction of the new house.

The conceptual notion of Major General C.D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu, Chief of Staff and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment, prompted all SLLI battalions to construct a new house for one of the selected soldiers in their respective battalions.

Colonel M.P.S.P Kulawekara WWV RWP RSP, Center Commandant of SLLI Regimental Headquarters, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the house-warming ceremony.
