A military funeral that took place on Wednesday (Jan 25) at the Keeramalai General cemetery in Jaffna saluted one of the most dedicated retired Senior Non - Commissioned Officer who joined the 1 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (1 SLLI) Regiment and served the Army for more than 30 years.
Sergeant Sundaram Arulambalam who was residing in Mawenkalladi, Thelippalai passed away last Monday (Jan 23), due to a sudden illness while he was enjoying his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army since 16th March 1980.
During his tenure, the heroic soldier, Sundaram Arulambalam had shown his patriotism towards our motherland and won the hearts and minds of soldiers as well as the 1 SLLI Officers.
The military funeral was organized under the guidance of Major General Swarna Bothota, Commander, Security Forces -Jaffna, Major General Wajira Welagedara, General Officer Commanding, 51 Infantry Division and under the close supervision of Brigadier Rizvi Razick, Commander, 513 Infantry Brigade.
Troops took charge of the remains of late Arulambalam as the funeral procession reached the Keerimalai cemetery premises where Sri Lanka Army troops saluted him in conformity with military traditions.
