One more new house, constructed under the supervision and with efforts of the 2 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry as part of the ongoing house-building project of the SLLI, was vested in one Corporal who had sacrificed his legs and limbs during the war for peace on Thursday (6).
The entire expenditure of the construction of this new well-equipped residence at Mulleriyawa has been estimated at Rs 1.3 million and was partly supported by 2 (V) SLLI troops and the Directorate of Veterans Affairs.
Major General Wasantha Abrew, Colonel of the Regiment SLLI, responsible for the special Housing Project instructed Army Engineers to expedite its construction as one more unit out of 20 houses that have been mapped out for the benefit of families of the fallen war heroes and differently-able soldiers of Sri Lanka Light Infantry on priority basis.
Amid religious blessings, invoked by members of the Maha Sangha, the keys to this new houses were handed over to the beneficiary by Brigadier Chandana Ranaweera, Director, Directorate of Veterans Affairs.
