SLLI Regiment to Build 20 More Houses for its Troops

The Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) with a view to providing more and more welfare facilities for All Ranks in the SLLI Regiment recently launched the Phase-2 of its Housing Project in order to build 20 more new houses under the guidelines of Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, Colonel of the Regiment SLLI and Commander, Security Forces –Jaffna.

The project coincides with the Army Commander's instructions to all Regiments in this regard with the aim of providing decent house facilities to all in the Army. The SLLI by September this year ended the Phase-1 by erecting 20 homes or completing partly-built houses for SLLI Army personnel. The Phase-2 is to be carried out with joint support of the Regimental funds, Seva Vanitha sponsorship, Directorate of Veterans' Affairs and private sector philanthropists and donors.

Each house in the proposed Phase-2 has been estimated at Rs 1.4 million and own manpower of SLLI troops using their technical and engineering expertise have planned to erect those houses on their own. During the most recent SLLI Council meeting, Major General Jagath Kodituwakku appreciated the efforts and work done by all Officers and Other Ranks for their support to make the project a success.
