Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Inter Battalion Athletic Championship-2015 was held during July 29 - 30 at Diyagama Stadium.
The opening ceremony of the tournament which was held on 29 July, was graced by Major General J.R. Kulathunga, Deputy Vice Chancellor, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), Ratmalana.
After the lighting of the Olympic lamp and the declaration of Athletes’ and Referees’ oath, the chief Guest declared the tournament open.
More than 570 athletes from 24 battalions, including the Regimental Headquarters (RHQ) battalion competed in the 2-day tournament.
The closing ceremony of the tournament was held on 30 July headed by Major General K.A.D.A. Karunasekara, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI who graced the occasion as the chief guest.
4th Battalion SLLI became the Champions of the tournament while the RHQ Battalion, SLLI emerged as the runners-up.
The Chief Guest on the day gave away trophies to the winners.
Brigadier M.M. Kithsiri, Centre Commandant, SLLI, Brigadier M.P. Gunasinghe, President, SLLI Sports Board, and other invitees attended the closing-ceremony.
