Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Chief of Staff (COS) of the Army and also the Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) paid a visit to the 5 (V) SLLI located at Pallekele on Saturday (21).
This was his first visit to the camp compound after his assumption of duties as the Colonel of the Regiment SLLI and Chief of Staff.
The day’s protagonist was warmly welcomed by Major U.M.T.C Dharmasiri, Commanding Officer, 5 (V) SLLI and was greeted with a Drive Pass at the entrance to the premises by 5 (V) SLLI troops.
The Chief Guest was then invited to plant a sapling in the premises as a symbol of memory. Before he addressed all the troops at the location, he also sat for a couple of photographs.
