SLLI Bids Farewell to Retiring Major General Kithsiri Ekanayake

The Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regimental HQ bade farewell to one of its outgoing distinguished Senior Officers, Major General Kithsiri Ekanayake former Director Plans at the AHQ on 28 February upon his retirement from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army after a reputed service of more than 34 years.

Major General Kithsiri Ekanayake has served the Sri Lanka Army and the Nation by holding numerous commanding appointments and staff appointments in different parts of Sri Lanka. The farewell day commenced on arrival with a ceremonial Guard Turnout, followed by a Guard of Honour salute, a customary photograph and tea with all officers at the SLLI Regimental Headquarters.

A large gathering, including regiment Council members, the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Crishantha Peiris, Staff Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks from all Battalions were there to bid farewell to their outgoing Senior Officer of the Regiment.

The day’s formalities reached its climax with the formal dinner, held at the Officers’ Mess the same evening, where the retiring Officer’s service to the Army was lavishly hailed and awarded a special memento by Major General Wasantha Abrew, Commander, Security Forces - West and Colonel of the Regiment before the retiring Major General Kithsiri Ekanayake delivered his farewell compliments.
