In view of the emergency need that prevailed at the Kilinochchi District Hospital for extended mortuary facility, the Forward Maintenance Area (FMA) - Kilinochchi troops hurriedly converted a 20-feet metal container box to a mortuary and recently handed it over to hospital authorities for use as per directions of the Commander Forward Maintenance Area-Kilinochchi with the blessings of the Commander-Security Forces, Mullaittivu, Major General Sisira Pilapitiya.
The conversion was done on a request of the Regional Director of Health Services Dr N. Sarwanabawan and the Consultant Judicial Medical Officer, R.Danushan, made to Major General H.M.H.N Herath, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area-Kilinochchi since the existing mortuary has been under renovation.
Troops of 7 Regiment of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) converted the container which can store 11 corpses on priority basis.
