SLEME Troops Follow Boat Engine Repair and Maintenance Course

20 technical soldiers of the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Regiment enjoyed the brotherly training support, extended by the Navy when sailors conducted an Outboard Motor (OBM) course for Army personnel at the naval jetty in Trincomalee from 09 January 2023 to 08 February 2023.

The course that trained soldiers from the vehicle mechanic trade to learn about repairs and maintenance of boat engines efficiently and effectively was initiated by the Director General of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General Ranjan Jayasekara in recognition of the importance of maintaining a fleet of Army boats used for various operations.

The OBM course covered a range of topics including the identification of engine components, engine maintenance and troubleshooting techniques, etc. Participants received hands-on training, with practical exercises conducted on various types of boat engines where new opportunities for SLEME soldiers were opened.

The course was conducted in line with the Navy's commitment to enhancement of technical skills of personnel in the sister services.

A separate certificate awarding ceremony for OBM course attendees got underway afterwards at the Directorate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Office conference hall at the Army HQ.

Major General Ranjan Jayasekara, Director General of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering of the Army, Lieutenant Commander Chinthaka Wijesinghe, representing the Sri Lanka Navy, Staff Officer Engineering training and several officers attended the certificate awarding ceremony.
