A new 5-month long project for repair of tractors of the Security Forces Headquarters – East (SFHQ-E) got underway on Wednesday (4) under the guidance of Major General K.M.U Wijerathne, Commander, Security Force – East (SF-E).
The project was initiated by Lieutenant Colonel K.A.R.K Dias, Commanding Officer at 3 SLEME under the supervision of Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - East (FMA-E), Brigadier A.V Rupasinghe.
Most of those tractors have been in use for a long time and require close attention and repairs to their valuable parts like gear box, brake system, steering system, tinkering, painting, etc and remain in the 4th line category of repair.
A total of 12 such defunct tractors after heavy used for 6-19 years were fully repaired at the workshop and tested for more than 80 hours on test run basis.
Those repaired tractors are to be tested and sent back to respective Battalions, Units and other locations with a warranty of 6 months.
Commander (SF-E), Major General K.M.U Wijerathne, Brigadier A.V Rupasinghe, Commander FMA-E, Commanding Officer, 3 SLEME, Lieutenant Colonel K.A.R.K Dias, several other officers and other ranks attended the launched of the project.
