Sri Lanka, Electrical & Mechanical Engineers bade farewell to one of its distinguished outgoing Senior Officers, Major General Ajith Elwatte former Commander Forward Maintenance Area (FMA) - Kilinochchi on 14 August upon his retirement from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army after a reputed service of more than 34 years.
Major General Ajith Elwatte has served the Sri Lanka Army and the Nation by holding numerous commanding appointments and staff appointments in different parts of Sri Lanka. The farewell day commenced on arrival with a ceremonial Guard Turnout, followed by a Guard of Honour salute, a customary photograph and the tea with all officers at the SLEME Regimental Headquarters.
A large gathering, including the Director Electrical & Mechanical Engineers Brigadier Indu Samarakoon, the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Nilan Herath, Staff Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks from all Battalions were there to bid farewell to their outgoing Senior Officer of the Regiment.
