SLEME Adds Immortality to its Eventful 70 Years of History

Recording the milestone saga of the Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) of the Army, which is contemporaneous with the founding of the then Ceylon Army in 1949 presented its 70 years of documented eventful history (1949-2019) in the form of a valuable reference book to the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva this afternoon (10) at the Army HQ.

Major General M. A. A Duminda Sirinaga, the 9th Colonel Commandant, SLEME and Quarter Master General of the Army called on the Army Chief at his office and awarded the maiden copy of the book, “Heththe Wasaraka Piya Satahan” (recollections of 70 years) which narrates the legacy of the SLEME, tracing the times under the former Royal British Army Electrical & Mechanical Engineers and its gradual evolution to be a full -fledged wing of the Sri Lanka Army.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva congratulating the SLEME efforts in this regard and highlighting its usefulness to the organization as a reference document to budding Officers thanked the SLEME for the initiative since its history corresponds to the raising of the then Ceylon Army too in 1949. buy shoes | Nike Shoes, Sneakers & Accessories
