SLCMP ‘Inter Unit Swimming Championship - 2023’ Clinched by 1 SLCMP Swimmers

The final matches and the certificate-awarding ceremony of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) ‘Inter Unit Swimming Championship - 2023’ got underway at Panagoda Army Cantonment Swimming Complex on 18 August 2023.

The Commanding Officer of 1 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police welcomed the day’s Chief Guest, Major General A.C.A de Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, Provost Marshal and the SLCMP Colonel Commandant on behalf of the organizing committee and invited him to formally inaugurate the Inter unit swimming Championship 2023.

More than 75 male and female SLCMP swimmers representing seven SLCMP Units, Special Investigation Unit & School of Military Police under Novices and Open Categories vied in the Championship tournament.

At end of the event, the Championship (male) was clinched by 1 SLCMP swimmers pushing 2 SLCMP competitors to be the runner-up. Private T.M.S.D Thennakoon of 7 SLCMP was adjudged the Best Male swimmer.

Meanwhile, the female Championship of the inter unit swimming Championship - 2023 was won by women swimmers of the School of Military Police in Giritale.

Lance Corporal W.M.K.D Bandara of 7 SLCMP was selected as the Best Female swimmer in the Championship.

Major General A.C.A de Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc extended best wishes to the swimmers and gave away trophies and certificates to the achievers.

The SLCMP Centre Commandant, Several SLCMP Senior Officers, Officers and Other ranks witnessed the finals and the subsequent awarding ceremony.
