SLCMP Marks its 33rd Anniversary Day with Elaborate Arrangements

The Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) of the Army which 'leads by example' commemorated its 33rd anniversary with a series of anniversary projects during 19-28 April 2023 at the SLCMP Regimental Centre, Polhengoda.

The climax of the ceremonies reached with military formalities where Colonel Commandant, SLCMP Major General A.L Illanagakoon was accorded a Guard Turnout at the main entrance and a ceremonial parade in the ground in accordance with military formalities.

The day's Chief Guest, Major General A.L Illanagakoon was warmly welcomed upon his arrival at the Regimental Centre before he was invited to receive the salute in the presence of the Provost Marshal, Major General A.C.A De Zoysa USP hdms Lsc, SLCMP Regimental Council members, Retired Officers and family members, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

Subsequently, he was invited to plant a sapling at the HQ premises. Afterwards, in order to add memories to the anniversary commemoration he posed for a group photograph along with Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment.

The anniversary day’s commemorative ceremony reached its conclusion with an All Rank lunch, arranged at the Corporals' Club at the SLCMP Regimental Centre. The Colonel Commandant as a formality addressed the troops and highlighted the importance of the milestone anniversary.

As the final segment of the anniversary arrangements, a musical programme got underway with the participation of Past Colonel Commandants, Retired Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

Earlier during 19-20 April, several religious ceremonies, inclusive of a Perahera, 'Pirith' Chanting and an Alms-Giving were held at the SLCMP Regimental Centre during 19-20 April 2023 where the Colonel Commandant, Provost Marshal, Past Colonel Commandants, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Retried Officers and Other Ranks with members of the SLCMP Seva Vanitha Branch participated in the programmes.
