Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps(SLAWC) conducted the Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival at Borella Regimental Centre premises with the participation of all Officers, Other Ranks, family members and civil employees on 03 April 2024.
The festival was filled with a number of Sinhala and Tamil traditional events including tug-of-war, selection of the “Avurudu Kumari”, Eye-placing on the elephant, Bun-eating and several other games.
Mrs Nayomi Gunaratne, the Chairperson of SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch attended the event as the Chief Guest and gave away gifts to the winners of the games and competition.
The event was organized by the SLAWC Regimental Centre under the direction of Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, the Commander, Security Forces – East and the Colonel Commandant of SLAWC.
At the conclusion, civil employees serving at the Regimental Centre and 1 SLAWC were given dry ration packs and gift parcels by the chief guest.
