SLAVF Troops Enlightened on Importance of 'Bio-diversity' & Green Concept

At the request of Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), several prominent environmentalists, Prof P. Nihal Dayawansa, Mr. Jagath Gunawardana and Mr. Channa Ekanayake were invited to educate SLAVF troops on Biod-diversity & Green Agriculture Concepts on Monday (21) at the Privates' Mess Hall of the SLAVF Headquarters.

Renowned environmentalists, Prof P. Nihal Dayawansa, Mr Jagath Gunawardana and Mr Channa Ekanayake delivered those lectures on Environmental Law constituted in safeguarding the environment of Sri Lanka, Green Concept and Ecological Restoration, etc with the aim of transforming the entire SLAVF troops and its brigade to be a green establishment.

After explaining the significance on protection of bio diversity, new approaches for the restoration of the environment in the camp premises were spelt out introducing the “Seven Lessons of Nature” approach where they made field visits in order to educate the troops on wildlife conservation and environmental protection inside the camp compound as part of the day's sessions.

Major General Shean Gunawardhane, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the session.
