Colonel H.A. Keertinatha took over duties as 14th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Training School at Diyatalawa on Saturday (12) during a simple ceremony, blended with religious observances and military formalities. On arrival, he was greeted to a Guard Turnout and welcomed by Senior Officers.
Chanting of 'Seth Pirith' by members of the Maha Sangha blessed his new office as he sat down to sign a formal document to signify the acceptance of his new responsibility.
In his brief talk to the gathering, he spoke of planned future prospects for the school and strongly stressed the importance of leadership and capacity-building as the forwarded strategy for 2020-25 for the best interests of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force School.
He also as an environment-friendly Officer planted a sapling to mark the occasion and later on joined all ranks for tea.
