SLAVF Other Ranks Qualify in Land Surveying

Six Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) and three Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) who underwent training in 3D land surveying using a modern Total Station Technical Equipment and Computer-aided Survey Drafting through Auto CAD at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Headquarters at Kosgama culminated their course and received certificates.

As part of the training project, those trainees on the directions of Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment, together with the SLAVF’s Registered Licensed Surveyor Captain W.A.H.J.W Silva who performs duties in the 4th (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Engineers surveyed the SLAVF’s land swath of 55 acres. The course started on 05 June 2021 and continued until 12 July 2021 at the SLAVF Headquarters.

The whole training session was conducted by the Registered Licensed Surveyor Captain W.A.H.J.W Silva and the trainee surveyors successfully completed the SLAVF land survey project using the most modern technical equipment that could also point out future projections.

Certificates were awarded to the survey team by the SLAVF Commandant, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda during a brief ceremony, in which he commended the trainees for their accomplishment of the expected task which would promote their career enhancement.

Major General Christy Jayasinghe, Deputy Commandant SLAVF also attended the awarding of certificates. SLAVF Senior Officers, Other Ranks attended the event, adhering to COVID-19 health guidelines.
