Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP, SLAVF, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) paid tribute and appreciated the contribution of Commanding Officers and Regimental Sergeant Majors of recently-disbanded Volunteer Battalions after inviting all of them to the SLAVF Multifunctional Hall on Tuesday (26 Sep).
Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP, as the Chief Guest of the event was warmly welcomed by Major General M.T.K.R Silva KSP, Deputy Commandant, SLAVF on his arrival.
During the event, the Commanding Officers of those disbanded Battalions officially handed over respective flags of the units to the SLAVF Commandant. Subsequently, all disbanded units were awarded certificates of commendation for their immense contribution to all major offensives of the Humanitarian Operation since their founding and up until the culmination of the war for peace and also in the post war era.
Afterwards, those Commanding Officers and Regimental Sergeant Majors received letters of commendation as tokens of appreciation and recognition due to their guidance given to their respective units to reach expected objectives of the entire organization as the final successors of such Battalions.
Later, the day’s Chief Guest extended his heartiest gratitude to the Commanding Officers and Regimental Sergeant Majors for their tremendous contribution during the war and peacetime in his address and lent his best wishes for their future endeavours. All of them adding memories posed for a few group photographs with the Chief Guest before the culmination of the event.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in the day's agenda.
