Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) bade farewell to the Outgoing Deputy Commandant, Major General M.T.K.R Silva KSP amidst military formalities on 24 April 2024 at the SLAVF premises.
The Outgoing Deputy Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Staff Officers of SLAVF after he was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance. Subsequently, he laid a flower wreath at the memorial of Captain Saliya Aladeniya.
Afterwards, troops of the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps honoured him in a colourful Guard of Honour at the parade square. After handing over duties at his office, he addressed the troops and extended his gratitude towards their support given during his tenure.
Furthermore, he interacted with the troops during an All-Ranks tea and a memento was presented to him in appreciation of his service.
As dusk fell, a formal farewell dinner was hosted in honour of the outgoing Deputy Commandant at the Officers’ Mess. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of SLAVF also took part in the ceremony.
