The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) bade farewell to Major General B.K.G.M.L Rodrigo RSP psc IG, the outgoing Commandant of the SLAVF, during a brief ceremony on 02 December 2024 at the SLAVF premises in Kosgama.
The outgoing Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Commandant of the SLAVF, followed by a Guard Turnout. Subsequently, the Senior Officer paid tribute by laying a wreath at the memorial of the late Captain Saliya Aladeniya PWV and posed for a group photograph with the Headquarters staff of the Volunteer Force.
Thereafter, he signed the official document marking the conclusion of his tenure at the SLAVF and recorded his thoughts and well-wishes in the visitors' book in his office. The Senior Officer then unveiled his portrait at the office as a commemorative gesture. Following these formalities, he addressed the troops and attended an All-Ranks tea.
The day’s proceedings concluded with his ceremonial departure, marked by a traditional street line that extended to the main entrance of the SLAVF premises, amidst showers of blessings and well-wishes from all members of the SLAVF. Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks of the SLAVF were also present at the event.
