SLARDAR Holds Its Award Ceremony &;amp; Recognizes Motor Racing Skills


A glittering and colourful ceremony of the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) at Golden Rose Reception Hall, Boralesgamuwa, recognized exceptional skills of Sri Lankan drivers and riders who showed their colours during the years 2012 - 2013 on Saturday (7) during an award ceremony.

Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, together with Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) and a host of Army officers who were instrumental in organizing island-wide motor sports racing events, graced the occasion as invitees.

The event witnessed those excelled in Ford Formula 1600 cc class, Modified cars Up to 3500cc, Cars over 12Kg/Hp, Racing Motor Cross motorbikes, Racing Thoroughbred motorcycles up to 250cc, etc in the corresponding period, awarded laurels by different invitees, called to the stage.

At the same time, the SLARDAR appreciated the Army’s contribution to the promotion of motor-racing in the country and presented special mementos to the Commander of the Army and several others at the same ceremony.

General Jagath Jayasuriya, Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Jagath Dias, Adjutant General, Major General Sumeda Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - West, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna, Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi, Major General J.C. Rambukpotha, Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Artillery, Major General Milinda Peiris, Vice Chancellor of Kotelawala Defence University, Brigadier I.P. Ranasinghe, Commandant, Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa and a large gathering attended the ceremony.   

SLARDAR President, SLARDAR Vice President, SLARDAR Secretary, SLARDAR Treasurer and all executive members worked collectively to make this event a success.
