SLAIN INTELLIGENCE OFFICER'S JANAZA HELD AMIDST A LARGE GATHERING

The funeral of slain Lieutenant Colonel T.R. Meedin of Military Intelligence Corps, posthumously promoted to the rank of Colonel, took place Sunday (30) afternoon itself at the Makola Islamic burial ground in accordance with Islamic religious rites amidst a large gathering.

The funeral procession, joined by Senior Army and Police Officers and members of the bereaved family was escorted up to the cemetery by Army and Police riders.

However, funeral proceedings were restricted only to Islamic religious rites at the request of the members of the bereaved family, particularly in view of the forthcoming Ramzan festival and their season of fasting.

Janaza of Colonel T.R. Meedin was concluded according to the wishes of the bereaved family without any Military honours, typically accorded to a funeral of this nature.
