SLAGSC Moves its Sergeants to New Accommodation & Mess

Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) Regimental Headquarters, fulfilling a long-felt need in the premises gifted its Sergeants with a modern two-storied building that can be used by them as a wing for accommodation plus a well-equipped Mess on Thursday (23) during a fitting ceremony, headed by Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army.

The day's Chief Guest, Lieutenant General Senanayake on arrival was welcomed by Major General Vajira Palihakkara, officiating Deputy Chief of Staff, Director General Financial Management and Colonel Commandant of the SLAGSC, together with the SLAGSC Centre Commandant seconds after the visiting Commander was honoured in a Guard Turnout, followed by a Guard of Honour presented by SLAGSC troops.

The Commander of the Army also venerated the memory of fallen SLAGSC War Heroes by laying a floral wreath at the SLAGSC monument.

From the special dais in the parade ground, the Commander addressed the troops and spoke high of the services being rendered by the SLAGSC for smooth conduct of affairs in the organization.

At the auspicious minute, the day's Chief Guest unveiled a plaque, cut a ribbon with the Regimental Sergeant Major and warmed the new building, constructed singularly by the SLAGSC troops with Army and Regimental funds.

Next, the Army Chief planted a mango sapling in the venue at the invitation of the Colonel Commandant of the SLAGSC and made the day's event memorable. After visiting the interior of the new building, the Commander left a few compliments in the SLAGSC Visitors' Book.

Both the Army HQ and the SLAGSC Regimental funds were used for construction of this two-storied new building. The presence of retired senior SLAGSC officers and Retired RSMs of the SLAGSC on the occasion added special colour to the occasion.

In another feature, Colonel Commandant Major General Palihakkara with the objective of helping welfare roles of All Ranks awarded a cheque to the value of Rs. 825,000/= to the Army Chief for provision of more assistance and welfare to required families.
