Recognizing and hailing the sports men and women of the Sri Lanka Army General Services Corps (SLAGSC) Regiment, a glittering Colours Night was held at the National Youth Centre Stadium, Maharagama on Thursday (31).
The SLAGSC Regiment, having produced a fine assortment of sports personalities to the Army in the past couple of years, took the pride of appreciating the services of both retired and serving sportsmen during the glittering event.
Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC Brigadier D.C.S Wanniarachchi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. 147 SLAGSC personnel received colours during this event in the field of Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Body Building, Boxing, Elle, Football, Handball, Judo, Kabaddi, Karate, Power Lifting, Rugby, Firing, Taekwondo, Volleyball and Weight Lifting.
Ten players who have excelled received trophies on the occasion for ‘the most outstanding player’ category during 2004 - 2010. A special memento, recognizing the Colonel Commandant’s contribution to the SLAGSC and his remarkable dedication for development of sports in the Regiment was presented to him on the same occasion.
