DEFENCE SECRETARY Gotabhaya Rajapaksa praising the service of the Sri Lanka Air Force, said that our war heroes have proved that if the correct leadership is given there is nothing impossible for them to win.
"The skill and capability of the service personnel behind the equipment manoeuvring it, mattered most in winning this war against terrorism," he said.
"We greatly appreciate the responsibilities carried out by the Air Force who accurately attacked the enemy target avoiding innocent civilian casualties," he said.
The Defence Secretary said so at the ceremony held yesterday at Katunayake Air Force Base to appreciate the contribution of the Air Force personnel who helped to successfully end the humanitarian mission saving the country.
Addressing the gathering the Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetilake said, "We won because we acted as a team. Each team member were highly dedicated at every given task. Be it success or failure the entire team took the responsibility on to their shoulders." - (DY)
