Major General Shiran Abeysekera, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock (SLACAL) and Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Sri Lanka Army recently visited the 3 (V) SLACAL camp and Army farms located in Galkanda and Aralaganwila areas during 13 - 14 January.
The day's guest was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel B.M.T.A Beddewela, Commanding Officer, 3 (V) SLACAL and was saluted in a drive pass Guard Turnout by 3(V) SLACAL troops.
On the same occasion, 3 (V) SLACAL troops, together with the Seva Vanitha Branch of the SLACAL in order to relieve economic burdens gave away relief items, inclusive of school books, dry rations, chickpeas, cultivated mushroom packs etc to most deserving Other Ranks and Civil Employees.
Further, he inspected accommodation areas of the troops, large-scale coconut, chilli, mango and paddy cultivation projects, Kandakadu Ration Pack project and proposed site for the construction of water sumps of the irrigation system in progress, Kandakadu, managed by the unit. He appreciated and thanked the troops for their dedicated hardwork towards the Army.
The next day, the Colonel Commandant visited the Army Model Farm at Aralaganwila and left a couple of thoughts and compliments in the Visitors’ Book before the culmination of the day's proceedings.
