SLAC-SVB with ASVU President Grants Incentives & Scholarships

The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Seva Vanitha Branch, (SLAC-SVB) conducted a ceremony to award scholarships to children of Army families, financial aids for the soldiers and the civil staff serving the SLAC on Thursday (25 May) at the Rock House Army Camp along with a wheelchair to a deserving mother of a soldier.

Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the SLAC-SVB.

At the invitation of Mrs (Dr) Harshini Bothota, Chairperson, SLAC-SVB, together with SVB ladies organized the ceremony to upgrade the education standards of students and develop self - employment openings and welfare role of the soldiers and their spouses.

During the ceremony, 20 scholarships, each worth of Rs 36,000/= were provided to children of the soldiers of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC), four financial aids, each worth of Rs 60,000/= were given away to uplift self - employment opportunities of soldiers’ spouses, Rs 200,000/= was provided to construct a concrete wall for protection of a soldier's residence and Rs 75,000/= was given for repairing of the roof of a civil employees’ accommodation during the occasion.

Meanwhile, a wheelchair was donated to an ailing mother of one soldier during the arrangement. The Army dancing team added more glamour and fun during the awarding ceremony.

SLAC, Officers, SLAC Senior Non-Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers, family members and civil employees attended the ceremony.
